Ne-Yo Makes The Move To Motown Records

Ne-Yo has been keeping quiet lately, as he has been caught up in the happy role of fatherhood for the second time, and has been balancing a career on top of his home life. He’s now adding the pressures of making the switch from Def Jam to Motown Records to release new music and become a senior VP at a new role.
Not only will Ne-Yo be signed onto Motown Records, but the R&B super star will be heading a new A&R department for 2012. He gave his perspective on his latest career shift explaining his excitement and fears are all rolled into one in this new venture.
I’m honored that I’ve been given such a prestigious title and trusted with such responsibility; terrified because I know that playing this role in the fashion of one of my career role models, Mr. Smokey Robinson — these are big shoes to fill. But trust, I can handle it.
So he will be spearheading his fifth solo LP this year, but he’s taking on a whole new creative role in assisting the label in finding true, soulful talent that’s missing from the music game today.
